Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Research Description

Our lab is investigating the role of sodium-calcium nanodmains in cardiac arrhythmogenesis, with the particular focus on the involvement of  sodium channels in the triggering process. We use an array of techniques and models including optical mapping of ex vivo hearts, conventional (patch clamp) and fluorescence-coupled electrophysiology (patch clamp in tandem with rapid confocal calcium imaging) and scanning ion conductance microscopy-guided single-channel recordings (aka smart-patch).
