Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Research Description

The Belyy lab studies the fundamental mechanisms of signaling across biological membranes. We are particularly interested in the oligomerization of stress receptors, which we investigate with a combination of optogenetics, single-molecule imaging, quantitative microscopy, and in vitro biochemistry. Although receptor oligomerization is a common theme in cell signaling, it is a surprisingly tricky phenomenon to study. We seek to change that by applying cutting-edge techniques to the problem and, when needed, developing new ones.
