Premashis Manna

Mentor Faculty
Assistant Professor
Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry

Research Description:

Directed evolution has proved to be a powerful technique to alter the protein functions for their industrial and therapeutic applications via genetic diversity and selections thereafter. By employing high-throughput microfluidics-based screening and the spectroscopic read-outs from protein conformational fluctuations, my laboratory develops a dynamics-guided directed evolution platform. We utilize this platform to tune the photophysical and catalytic properties of proteins to generate photostable molecular probes, efficient plastic-degrading enzymes and light-harvesting complexes with far-red absorption.
