My Story:

The human hMSH2-hMSH6 mismatch repair proteins play a critical role in genetic stability and repairing DNA replication errors. If these proteins are mutated or non-functional, there is an increase in genetic instability and replication errors. If these proteins are mutated or non-functional, there is an increase in genetic instability and carcinogenesis. Understanding the conformational mechanism of how these proteins interact with mismatched DNA has not been fully identified. The human mismatch repair protein hMSH2-hMSH6 will be used to evaluate for conformational changes as it binds to mismatched DNA.
