Research Description
As a member of the Cancer Biology Program at the OSUCCC - James, I have two main research interests, both of which are driven by engineering principles for developing technological solutions for fundamental understanding, new diagnostic tools and new instrumentation for improving treatment outcomes.
The first effort focuses on measuring, quantifying and developing instrumentation to electromagnetically determine properties of liver metastases from colorectal cancer. A continuing aim of this research is to develop modalities for real-time tissue imaging for accurate surgical margin identification during surgery.
The second effort focuses on innovative microfluidic platforms to enable isolation, concentration and analysis of cells and cellular components with applications to liquid biopsy and angiogenesis.
Additionally, I am the co-holder of two patents and have co-authored numerous articles in such peer-reviewed journals as Scientific Reports, Lymphology and Micromachines.
