Research Interests: The current focus of Dr Tsai’s lab is to understand the relationship between the protein structure, the biological function, and the chemical mechanism for four major systems:
· INK4 Tumor Suppressor Proteins in the CDK4/Rb Pathway
· High Fidelity and Low Fidelity DNA Polymerases and DNA Ligases
· FHA Domain in Cell Signaling and DNA Damage Response
· Phospholipase A2 and Phosphatidylinositol-specific Phospholipase C
Dr. Tsai’s research is characterized by broad subjects at the interface of chemistry and biology, and dynamic mixing of methodology development and problem solving. The main approaches used in our current research include biological NMR, pre-steady-state kinetics, and bioorganic, biophysical, and molecular biological techniques.
