B. Current Research Program
A primary focus of my research is concerned with the mathematical and computational analysis of neuronal firing patterns. We wish to understand how the population rhythm of a given network depends on the underlying components of the network. These components include intrinsic properties of neurons within the network, synaptic properties of the coupling between neurons, and the architecture of the network. Specific neuronal models which I am studying include models for thalamic sleep rhythms, Parkinsonian tremor and respiratory pacemaker cells.
